QMS Templates
QMS Templates are the reusable starting files a new document version can be built from; Empty Word, Empty Excel, and SOP Template are all defined here.
Maintaining them centrally means an author begins from a consistent, controlled base rather than a blank file each time, so documents of the same kind stay uniform and the boilerplate is not rebuilt by hand.
These are the options offered when a version is created from a template (see Version Create).
The All QMS Templates list shows each template's:
Name, File Type (Word or Excel)
Template File (the attached file)
Is Empty (Yes/No), and
Created On
A template record has a:
Name
A Template Type (Word or Excel)
A Template File, and
Is Empty (Yes/No)
Important:
The file cannot be uploaded until the record is saved. On a new template, the field reads "This record hasn't been created yet. To enable file upload, create this record." After saving, a Choose File button appears; once a file is uploaded it is shown with a Delete option to remove or replace it. (For this reason, uploading may appear not to work if attempted before saving.)
How to Create a QMS Template
In the left navigation, under Administration, select QMS Templates, then New.
Enter the Name.
Set the Template Type (Word or Excel) and Is Empty (Yes/No).
Select Save, this creates the record and enables file upload.
At Template File, select Choose File and upload the template.
Select Save (or Save & Close).
