Introduction to Training

Training is where the organisation's training is tracked, managed, and assigned, so that the right people are trained on the documents that affect them; and so you can show, at any time, who has completed what.

Training is closely tied to documents. When a document version is released, the people in its target audience are expected to be trained on it, either by reading and understanding it or by completing a questionnaire. This area gives you the system-wide picture of that training, the tools to manage it, and a way to set a new starter up with everything their roles require.

What You Use It For

Training connects the document lifecycle to the people who need to know about it. With it you can:

  • See overall training status across the system; completion, what is overdue, and which documents still need training.

  • Manage the training tied to each document, including its questionnaire or read-and-understood requirement and who is assigned.

  • Identify documents that have no training, or whose training is rejected or obsolete, and link one.

  • Set up a new user in one place, assigning their roles and the trainings that come with them.

Together, these give you a defensible record of training across the quality management system.

How It Is Organised

Training has three parts:

  • Overview A system-wide view of training status, by document and by user; completion rates, overdue training, and coverage.

  • Management Where training records, questionnaires, and each document's training are managed, and gaps in coverage are identified.

  • Onboarding Where a new user is set up in one place, assigning their roles and the associated trainings together.

The pages that follow describe each part in detail. If you are checking where things stand, begin with Overview; to set up and assign training, go to Management.
