Create and Release a Document
The following walkthrough connects the reference sections by following one SOP from creation to an effective, trained document. Each step references the section containing the full detail.
Confirm the category exists
Ensure a suitable category exists (for example, Quality Management), and create one if necessary. (See Categories)Create the master document
From the category, add a new master document: enter a Name, set QMS Type = SOP, confirm the Prefix, and set Review Required and Criticality Index. (See Categories / Creating & editing a master document)Create the first version
In the Initial Version Creation dialog, start from a template (for example, SOP Template (Word)) or an empty file. The version is created with status Draft. (See Creating & editing a master document / Creating & releasing a version)Author the content
Open the file in Word. Use the Content Manager add-in to insert any variables and references, and to generate a reference list if required. (See Variables)Configure the training
On the version's training record, set the completion type (Questionnaire or Read & Understood). For a questionnaire, add the questions and set the pass threshold. (See Management)Start the release
Open the Document Release Process, enter a Message describing the release, and select Start Release. (See Creating & releasing a version)Review and approve
The reviewer or approver opens the request, adds any comments, and selects Approve, then confirms the attestation, enters the Signature PIN, and selects Approve and Sign. (See Creating & releasing a version / Document Approvals)Plan the release
At the Release Plan stage, set the Effective Date and Next Review date. (See Creating & releasing a version / Training assignment on release)Training is issued
Training is assigned to the Target Audience. Monitor completion in Management & Overview, and use Notify or Set Due Date as required. (See Overview / Management)Users complete the training
Each user opens the training from the Dashboard, reads the document, completes the questionnaire or confirmation, and signs with the Signature PIN. (See Dashboard / Overview)The version becomes effective
On its effective date, the new version becomes Effective and the previous version becomes Obsolete.
